When I first saw Mr. Majestic I was so taken with the delicacy and pattern of his wings, but it did not detract from his strength and vigor.  I remember hearing that the circular patterns on butterfly wings are to fool birds into attacking the outside of their wings rather than their vulnerable heads.  How tough is that!  This original oil painting is 16 x 20.  I so enjoyed spending time with this gorgeous fellow, that the painting came together in only a few days.  I actually missed him when the painting was done.
