When I saw this lighthouse, I couldn't help but think of the metaphore of a mother being a lighthouse for her children as they navigate life and all it's turbulent waters. It felt both protective and constant, a beacon of reassurance. Layered into the sky is Gregg shorthand, a language I use in my everyday life and one that holds a special place in my work. It offers a beautiful duality: a message that can remain deeply personal or be shared with those you choose. Like the role of a mother, it speaks softly - sometimes understood by all, and sometimes held close, as a private expression of care, memory and connection. The original is 16" x 20" oil on canvas panel.
