I was on a business trip in Washington, DC. The last day I was there, it was raining cats and dogs! One morning, while working in the business lounge of the Downtown Hilton, I was so taken with the scene outside, that I snapped a couple of photos. The abstract nature of the windows across the street in addition to the awesome reflections in the street were captivating.
I'll tell you a secret. I am not that good at drawing. I struggle to get an image onto the canvas. But, I get there.

I had originally intended to put the raindrops that clung to the outside of the window into the painting. Then I chickened out. The windows themselves made me so happy that I didn't want to obscure them.

The detail of the paving bricks in the Hilton driveway make the foreground a little more interesting, so I played those up. I'd love to go back and see what this street looks like in good weather!
