Mr. Majestic

Final Oil Painting, Mr. Majestic. Oil on canvas, 16" x 20"

Mr. Majestic was in a magazine at my hairstylists. How could you not be captivated by these colors and his regal presence. I thought he was magnificent. I had bought some oil paint markers several months ago and was looking for a painting to try them out on. This painting lent itself perfectly. I did the sketch of the veins and outlines on his wings then went over them with black and white oil markers. The pedals on the flower were outlined with a white charcoal pencil.

Here the under painting is in place and I am working back and forth to add more color to his wings. Letting various sections dry before going back in to paint their neighbors. Layers are being added to the flower pedals to play up the shadows and make the color more striking.

Is anything ever finished really? There are always things that I would change. Ideas that I would develop. But I had already started the under painting for Duke L’Orange, and couldn’t wait to dive into the sequel to Mr. Majestic. Look for the Duke next.
