I had painted peonies for my Granddaughter, Aleen. When her cousin, my Granddaughter Cara, saw them, she asked to have a painting of her own. Her favorite color is pink, and she asked for Tulips.

I found a tulip photo on Google that was particularly interesting because of its strong contract to the background, and the abstract nature of the flowers themselves. I used a very dark olive green rather than black for the background, to make the pink pop even more.

The painting was dry in time for Cara to turn 8 years old. She loves them, and so do I.

Note to self: Fix your hair before taking photo. Behind us is a pattern of metallic squares that I painted on the wall.

These tulips look like they are having a party and we are not invited. We can peak in, but we can't participate.
